Ahhh! We're Engaged!!

So, of course, the most important factoid of this whole wedding planning blog is how we got engaged!! So here you have it:

It was July 4th weekend and we were headed out on a nice weekend getaway. Originally, we were planning on going to a music festival & camping, but Brett decided to change those plans. Instead, we headed to Port Clinton, OH for some sun & relaxing on the islands of Lake Erie. Me, being the oblivious person that I am, didn't think anything of the change in plans. We headed out early Friday morning (the 3rd) and got to our hotel, but it was too early to check in. Brett suggested we go check out the Marblehead Lighthouse that was nearby, because he knew I am in love with lighthouses! We headed over to the spot, and had some cheese & crackers by the lighthouse, just relaxing and enjoying the view of the lake. I took a ton of pictures, as usual, then we started heading back towards the car. I started to get in the car, but Brett suggested we go get a view of the lighthouse on the rocks down by the water. Of course, I agreed and walked down to the water, continuing to take a ton of pictures, while Brett just stood there. I was in my own little world taking pictures of the lighthouse and the water, with my back to Brett. Suddenly, in the mist of my picture taking, Brett said, "Hey babe!" I turned around and Brett was down on one knee, with an open ring box, and asked, "Will you marry me?" I said "Oh my god" about a hundred times, followed by "Yes!" about a hundred times, while jumping on him with lots of hugs & kisses! Annnnnnd the rest is history... :)

The History of Brett & I

A bit about me:

I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA in the town of Mt. Lebanon. I attended Mt. Lebanon Highschool and continued on to the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, majoring in Business Management. I love music, dancing, traveling, exploring, being outdoors, and the delicious dinners Brett makes me. Other things that make me smile are sunshine, lighthouses, the beach, beer, wine, happiness, and silly jokes Brett tells me. I am so very happy and thankful for all the amazing people in my life.

A bit about Brett:

Brett grew up in Erie, PA in the town of Fairview. He attended Mercyhurst Preparatory School and continued on to the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Brett enjoys photography, guitar, traveling, and trying different beer & wine. He also loves concerts, brewing beer, cooking marvelous vegetarian dinners, and laughing at me when I say something ridiculous.

How we met:

Brett & I met at UPJ in 2004, during our sophmore year of college. It was Halloween night, I was dressed as a gangster & Brett was dressed in a little kid dinosaur costume that he had to cut the crotch out of to get it to fit. Little did Brett know that he would meet his future wife in this outfit. Brett and my brother, Lee knew eachother through classes, since they were both engineering majors. I decided to tag along with Lee on Halloween night, and we ended up going to Brett's dorm hall and hanging out with everyone. When Brett & I met, clearly it was love at first sight. How could I resist dinosaur boy?! Actually, just kidding, we were friends long before we started dating. Brett & I had many mutual friends at UPJ, so we ended up hanging out quite a bit throughout sophmore year. We even had a class together. Brett used to steal my 'Film as Lit' book on a regular basis, because he refused to buy his own textbook. ;) But I didn't mind, because I obviously must have had a subconscious crush on Brett the whole time. It wasn't until junior year of college in winter 2005 when we started dating, and officially became a couple on January 13, 2006!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog soley dedicated to planning our wedding!

Jess, my Maid of Honor, gave me the idea of starting a wedding planning blog after telling me all about hers! She will be marrying my brother Lee in May 2011!

As for us, Brett and I will be getting married on August 7, 2010 in Erie, PA! Now, I know that I am getting into the whole wedding planning blog a little late, seeing as though we've been engaged since July 2009 and already have a lot of our planning done. But, I will most likely back track through the different planning phases we've been through and recount them all! It'll be nice to look back on in years to come. So here goes! :)
